A vast scientific literature has shown that impulsive
aggression is more biological than premeditated aggression,
and more responsive to medication. Children and adolescents
who commit impulsive aggression are different in both
Neuropsychology and Neurophysiology measures. At the
conclusion of this workshop, participants should be able to
recognize the subtypes of aggressive behavior most likely to
benefit from pharmacological intervention, explain the role
of neurophysiological testing in the assessment of impulsive
or explosive aggression in the child or adolescent, and
recognize which medications will target the underlying
diagnosis, and which are just used as sedation to control
acute agitation.

MHMR 1501 W Beauregard, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm 3 CEUs, No Fee
As the number of critical incidents rise in this country
and the world, there is a greater need to understand the
mental health needs of victims and their families. Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder has been a formal diagnosis since
1980, but what do we really know about PTSD other than
confirming the diagnosis and processing the trauma? This
workshop will explore the differences in Adjustment Disorder
and PTSD along with the differences in combat trauma and
non-combat trauma. Helpful activities that have been
developed in working with combat trauma victims will be
presented.
