Withdrawal from long-term addiction to
alcohol and/or drugs can cause severe, even fatal, health
problems. River Crest provides medical supervision of
detoxification for adults age 18 and older.
Detoxification is not a treatment for
addiction; it is a first step in addressing the problem.
Following detoxification, treatment focuses on helping
patients break through the “wall of denial” common to people
with chemical dependency issues. Emphasis is placed on
helping patients identify and correct addictive behavior
patterns in their lives.
Treatment includes group and family
therapy, education, and active participation in self-help
groups. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every night
at River Crest.
